Description: Eelgrass 1962 - Maine Geological SurveyThe Nature Conservancy obtained geospatial information from the Maine Geological Survey for the Great Bay Estuary Restoration Compendium. A shapefile containing eeglrass (and salt marsh) data from 1962 was obtained courtesy of Stephen M. Dickson at the Maine Geological Survey (MGS). It was created for the Coastal Maine Geologic Environment (CMGE) survey of eelgrass, salt marsh and five other habitat types for the entire shoreline of Maine. The maps only contain eelgrass beds on the Maine side of the Piscataqua River. The following documentation was provided with the file. See paper maps for authorship of individual quadrangles. These maps do not provide an exact location of a tidal datum such as mean low water along the coast.Additional Information:State Planning Office, 1983, The Geology of Maine's Coastline, A Handbook for Resource Planners, Developers, and Managers, Augusta, Maine, 79 p.State Planning Office, 1985, Maine's Intertidal Habitats, A Planner's Handbook, Augusta, Maine, 43p.Timson, B.
